The Revivalists
Expedition Team Rand McNeely
Born a year after the events of Four Against Everest, Rand first met Woody Sayre in the fall of 2001. As one of the only two mountaineers present at the first reunion of the four Everest climbers in over 38 years, Rand took an immediate interest in bringing Woody's story back to life, both in book and film formats. An amateur filmmaker with his own DV and now HD editing studio, Rand hopes to pull together enough material for a compelling documentary and a film based on a credible reenactment attempt. He is also writing a non-fiction novel and a feature-length screenplay about Sayre and the era of his exploits.
Original Team
Roger Hart
Currently a professional oceanographer in Oregon, Roger has not forgotten his love of the mountains and holds the memories of 1962 close to his heart. His appearance and narration at the first public screening of Woody's original film since the 1960s were critical in publicizing Woody's story. Roger has agreed to join our expedition at Everest Base Camp with trekkers interested in seeing Tibet and reliving an historic moment.
Hans-Peter Duttle
Truly the glue that kept the four in communication over the past 40 years, Hans Peter makes his home in the mountains today, the beautiful southern Swiss Alpine region know as the Sonnenhalden, or sunny slopes. His contacts in the Swiss Alpine establishment and generous hospitality gave an early impetus to this effort. Hans-Peter will also join us in Tibet next spring.
Norman Hansen
The expedition photographer and only man who could hold Woody in check, Norm has been exceedingly generous with his photographs, most of which are in these pages. Norm still practices law in Boston.

Support Team
William Atkinson
Chair of the New England Section of the American Alpine Club, Bill has been a tireless promoter of our efforts, and has taken an interest in historical climbing film restoration since the death of 1940s climber and 8mm filmmaker Ken Henderson.
John Burroughs
Appalachian Mountain Club member, devotee of the great mountain ranges, and longtime fan of Woody Sayre, John has helped to identify locations and geographic features in Woody's 1962 film and photographs taken by the other expedition members.
Urgen Sherpa
Urgen runs a successful trekking management company out of Katmandu, Sherpa High Ambitions Trekking & Expeditions, Ltd. He has provided crucial support to a number of expeditions on Everest, including the 1991 New England Expedition led by Rick Wilcox. He will provide the foundation for our expedition, managing the receipt of our mountaineering gear and helping to arrange its transport to our basecamp under Cho Oyu. In addition, he will secure all the permits with the Nepal and Tibetan climbing agencies and governments to facilitate our complex trans-national climb.
David Hamlin
We have invited one of National Geographic Television's most experienced producers to advise us on filming this expedition and putting together the most complete and compelling documentary possible. We appreciate the heartfelt enthusiam of David and the Society as a whole.
Please join our team with any resources you think will contribute to this effort. Feel free to email us your ideas. We will acknowledge, if not reward, all efforts to help move this project forward.
